Poultry

Our flock of chickens and ducks enjoys foraging free range in our pasture and woods year round (as well as getting organic grain and vegetable scraps) and they reward us with their delicious, fresh, rainbow-shelled eggs. We have a mix of breeds and also do some cross breeding to give us dark brown, light brown, speckled, olive, blue, and white eggs.

The ducks are hilarious, always traveling around the farm in a tight-knit pack. They lay large white and green eggs. We love them fried, though the white is a little firmer than a chicken egg. The eggs are also fantastic in baked goods, custards, and ice cream because of their huge yolks. The ducks also love to slurp up slugs and snails and happily patrol for them around the outskirts of the growing areas.
