MOFGA Certified Organic Produce
We grow a quarter acre of certified organic vegetables in our high tunnel, caterpillar tunnel, and outside fields. We focus on salad and cooking greens, tasty snackable items like cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, edamame, and green beans as well as staples like garlic, onions, carrots, and winter squash. Our goal is to have fresh greens available as much of the year as possible without using supplemental heating in our high tunnels.
We use no-till methods which have been shown to help mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon in the soil. Our interpretation of no-till farming comes largely from Frith Farm in Scarborough and involves disturbing the soil as little as possible and using compost mulch, wood chip paths, intercropping, and other techniques that preserve soil structure and promote biological activity.
After watching so many area farmers struggling with the impacts of PFAS in their water, soil, and farm products, one essential for us in our farm search was finding a site that was not contaminated. Thank you to Sandor, the previous landowner, for sharing the history of land use here, believing in our vision for the property, and waiting six weeks in a very hot real estate market for the PFAS water test to thankfully come back non-detect.
